In in the fall of 2017, two girls realized the terrible situation many dogs were in within their area of East Alabama and West Georgia. Animal Controls were filled to the brim with dogs needing homes and there were not enough volunteers, fosters, or rescues able to help. It was then that these two college students knew they needed to jump in to action.
Since then, that rescue effort has become what we are now today; a group called Pups on the Plains that is made up of student officers who save dogs on death row in the East Alabama area by coordinating, transporting, fostering, vetting, and adopting out the dogs that we pull from animal controls that are full of animals and will need to euthanize for space.
With two years in operation we have saved over one hundred animals by fostering and educating the students of Auburn's campus about animal welfare.
